This is a letter (1906) of Riga Ecclesiastical Consistory of the Orthodox Church to the Orthodox Priest in Valmiera concerning the conversion of several members of his parish. The persons named in the letter - A.Miška and A.Drozdovs wished to take the advantage of Tzar's Manifest April 17, 1905, which declared the religious freedom in the Empire.

The original text of the letter is in Russian, and, as I have technical problems to print here Russian texts of the old orthography together with English texts, you will find here only my translation of the letter.

The text in the printed form was typed in by a typing machine, which was not very common at that time. I could not decipher the names of the people who signed the letter, but I found two names using the address book of that time.

My translation (the names spelled according to the modern rules of Latvian language).
