| 10. Picture. | A drawing of a lady. |
| 11. Comments. | Reiteri is a farm name. According to TD 1935 this farm had a telphone registrated to Drubiņš Aleksandrs. At Luikas the telephone owner was Ķiris Jānis. Kučieris mentioned in the text should be a dog of Reiteri farm, I think. The author had not great practice in writing. No links found with Dambis group of postcards. |

| 9. Text. | Merry Christmas |
| 10. Picture. | Flowers (Tulips) |
| 11. Comments. | The card was never sent by post. Possibly a former patient of the nurse and its parents handed this card to their nurse. To say the truth, I doubt this card will ever have any genealogical sense. |
| D-6/1 | |
| 1. Name. | Brakovshchik (examiner) Mr. E.D.Dauvart, Perm province, Verchne-Turinskiy Zavod, Mechanical factory Nr.3 |

| 10. Picture. | A drawing of a sitting lady and a verse of Aspazija "A prayer" |
| 11. Comments. | Hauptwachter is a German word that means - main watchman. Why Zenta and Poļa called themself like this I do not know. There is also another signature I can not decipher and greetings from little Karlis written by adult hand. |
| D-6/2 | |
| 1. Name. | Brakovshchik (examiner) Mr. E.D.Dauvart, Perm province, Verchne-Turinskiy Zavod, Mechanical factory Nr.3 |

| 9. Text. | Best wishes in birthday |
| 10. Picture. | A birthday card with a little girl. |
| 11. Comments. | The card was never sent by post and evidently the group handed it together with a present or flowers. Most likely the group is collegues. No proofs that the addressee is the same as for the previous cards, but the name is very rare so I grouped these 3 cards together. |
| D-7 | |
| 1. Name. | Madame M.Delle, Veru str. 3, Riga |
| 4. Dates. | S - 24-Mar-1930 |

| 10. Picture. | A view of Bordeaux (in France) |
| 11. Comments. | It is clear grammatically that Buba was a male person. |
| D-8 | |

| 10. Picture. | A New Year card with flowers. |

| 4. Dates. | S - 11-Mar-1937 |
| 6. Sender. | Marta in Dubulti |
| 9. Text. | Marta invites Ina to her home on a Sunday together with the mummy and the grandmother. Best regards to Mr. Dižais, grandmummy, little Jānītis and to both of you. |
| 10. Picture. | A landscape. |
| 11. Comments. | The word both in Latvian has two gender dependent forms. Here the form for two women was used. |
| D-11 | |
| 1. Name. | stud. m. A.Dogadkin, Parka str.1. Riga |
| 4. Dates. | S - 7-Oct-1924 |
| 6. Sender. | The mother from Berlin |
| 8. Language. | Russian |
| 9. Text. | The author tells informs they arrived in Berlin yesterday and were very tired. The traveling conditions were better beginning from Eidkunen i.e. from the border of Germany. They could hire sitting places for two persons and paid 3 Marks for each. The seats had very interesting construction.To-morrow they should go to Munich. |
| 10. Picture. | Unter der Linden in Berlin with the Library building and the monument of Friedrich the Great. |
| 11. Comments. | The letter was written by pencil and now it is faded out. The address book 1928 informs that Aleksejs Dogadkins, a student, lived at Marijas 9. |
.
| D-12 | |
| 1. Name. | Jānis Drape, St. Pūpe (now Babīte), Piņķu pag., farm "Stūra-Dzilnas" |
| 4. Dates. | S - 13-Aug-1916, R - 15-Aug-1916 |
| 6. Sender. | Jānis from Gatchina (near Petrograd) |
| 9. Text. | The author writes to his uncle and expresses his best attitude to him. He wrotes that he has not much free time but his life is not so difficult like to those who are near Riga. Best regards to the aunt and to Roberts. |
| 10. Picture. | A view of Carskoye Selo with a waterfall. |
| 11. Comments. | The letter was written at the war time when the front was quite near to the home of the addressee. Quite possible that the author also was engaged in the Army. His card has no postage stamp but nevertheless was accepted by the Post Office. I think that during the war the army people were not obliged to put the stamps on their letters and cards. The name of the author has faded out and Jānis is mostly a guess. The TD of 1940 gives the name of Jānis Drape from Babītes "Dzilnu-Stūros". This name should be for the same farm as in the address of the card. |
| D-13/1 | |
| 1. Name. | Miss E.Drille, Rucavas Upmaļu school in Liepājas apr. |
| 4. Dates. | S - 29-Dec-1934 |
| 6. Sender. | M.Mencend* from Riga |
| 9. Text. | The author lives in Riga for the second month but is not accustomed to the life here. She remembers quite often Rucava and the school. To this time she has not started any serious activity and thinks to participate more actively in the public life. She gives also her address at Kalnciema str. 122. Best regards to the mummy of the addressee. |
| 10. Picture. | A New Year card with best wishes written by the author. |
| 11. Comments. | I supposed the name of the author was Mencendorfs. This is a well
known German name not very common for Latvians. From the list of school teachers it is known that Marija Mencendorf b. Ansbergs worked as a school teacher in Rucavas- Paurupes school in 1923. |
| D-13/2 | |
| 1. Name. | Teacher Miss E.Drille, Rucavas Upmaļu school |
| 4. Dates. | S - 10-Feb-1936 |
| 6. Sender. | A.Bl* from Liepaja |
| 9. Text. | The author informs about his new address Graudu str. 36 and invites to visit him (or her) because this is at the centre and is easy to reach. |
| 10. Picture. | A rather abstract drawing called The Hope. |
| 11. Comments. | Obviously the author made a mistake when in the text wrote the year 1935. For the ideas of his full name see next card. |
| D-13/3 | |
| 1. Name. | Madam Anna Drille Rucavas Upmaļu elementary school |
| 4. Dates. | S - 26-July-1936 |
| 6. Sender. | Blūmentāls in Liepāja |
| 9. Text. | Best wishes in the Nameday |
| 10. Picture. | A bounch of flowers |
| 11. Comments. | I suppose that the author of this and the previous card is the same. |
| D-14 | |
| 1. Name. | Miss A.Drubiņš. Gaujienas pagasts, Robežnieki farm |
| 4. Dates. | S - 6-Dec-1931 |
| 6. Sender. | Aņķis (nickname for Anna) in Ape |
| 9. Text. | Greetings in the Nameday |
| 10. Picture. | A view of Ape with the Vaidava river. |
| 11. Comments. | At 7 Dec. is the Nameday of Antonija, Anta. |
| D-15 | |
| 1. Name. | Mr. Al. Druyanoff, Riga, Miera str. 54 |
| 4. Dates. | S - 15-May-1940 |
| 6. Sender. | T. Ma. from Hofheim (Taunus) |
| 8. Language. | Russian |
| 9. Text. | The author forgot all photos at home and asks Leshenka to inform the mother. If the mother will write to the author she is asked to put the photo of the addresee in the envelope. The author informs that on the photo of the front side of the card her window is marked. |
| 10. Picture. | Exerzitienhaus St. Josef in Hofheim (Taunus) |
| 11. Comments. | Leshenka is the nickname for Alexey. The word Exerzitienhaus was not found in the vocabulary. It should be something like sanatorium where the author lived. It is quite clear from the grammar of the text, that the author was a woman. |
| D-16 | |
| 1. Name. | Madam A.Dubults, Karlīnes str. 8/10 Riga |
| 4. Dates. | S - 19-Jul-1936 |
| 6. Sender. | A* |
| 9. Text. | Written at 14.30 July 18, 1936. The author had businesses yesterday in Jaunpiebalga, today in Gatarta and Drusti. About a half of the work is done and now he is sitting on the stump number 1070 in the section 1 of Piebalga forestry about 3 km from the centre of Drusti. He uses bicycle for transportation. He is very eager when Zaiga will visit him. Peniķis pushed the father on a tree but nothing serious happened. All the best. A* (may be Ald.) |
| 10. Picture. | A view of sea side in Jūrmala. |
| 11. Comments. | The card is cancelled in the mail car of the train Riga-Rītupe. I guess that Peniķis here should be a horse, though in Latvia this was a rather well-known name because of the name of a general. |
| D-17 | |
| 1. Name. | Madam M.Dubults, Valdemāra str. 69 |
| 4. Dates. | S - 29-Sep-1933 |
| 6. Sender. | Unknown from Kuldīga |
| 9. Text. | The author thanks the addresse for her efforts. She has received all the booklets. At this moment she has problems with the medicine - she always forget to take it. May be they will meet each other sometimes again. Best regards to Marija, Austra, Zete and to other Ziemeļnieces. |
| 10. Picture. | Becklin's picture The Holy Grove. |
| 11. Comments. | I wonder what does it mean - Ziemeļnieces? It seems it should be some organization with the word "ziemeļi" (North) in the name. Some chorus or like this. I have a photo of an amateur theatre with an inscription "Ziemelieši" on the frontside but I can not assert that the card is related to this group. This and the previous card have nothing common except the name of the addressees. |
| D-18 | |
| 1. Name. | Miss E.Dubults, Jaunpiebalga, Macītājmuižas "Saulgriezes" (Pastor's manor) |
| 4. Dates. | S - 21-Jul-1928 |
| 6. Sender. | Luce (nickname for Lucija) from Riga |
| 9. Text. | The author imagines the addressee like the person on the front side of the card and wishes her to keep such type of life style more frequently. |
| 10. Picture. | A view with a dreaming lady sitting on a spring coast. drawn by W.Merker. |
| 11. Comments. | This and 2 previous cards have nothing common except the name of the addressees. |
| D-19 | |
| 1. Name. | Mr. Antons Dukers. Livl. prov. Cirstengof (in German - Zirsten, in Latvian - Cirsti) via st. Piebalga. |
| 4. Dates. | S - 20-Sep-1907 |
| 6. Sender. | Kārlis Grāvīts from Petersbourg |
| 9. Text. | Kārlis writes that he has much to tell about Petersbourg. He feels himself well. From here they will sail to Liepaja. Antons is asked to write to the address in Liepaja: Seaman K.Grāvīts. Ship "Austrums". Capt. Leezeneeks. Ship brocker Sidlovsky. |
| 10. Picture. | A park in Southampton. |
| D-20 | |
| 1. Name. | Miss E.Durvtiņš. St. Bikseja. Kalnieši farm. |
| 4. Dates. | S - 3-Aug-1928 |
| 6. Sender. | Valija from Smiltene |
| 9. Text. | In Latvian: Labdien, Pastarīt! Lieta šāda: 12. aug.
š.g. atkal nolikta mūsu absolv. satikšanās pie trīs bērziem. Laiks - pkst.
4 pēc pusdienas. Tagad Tev jānāk katrā ziņā. Citādi tā būs vesela revolūcija,
streiks u.t.t. Bez tam visas meitas un puiši caur Tavu neatnākšanu jutīsies
apvainoti un saskaitīsies uz visiem laikiem. Man neiespējami slikta spalva.
Atā, uz redzi! Valija. My translation: Hello, Pastarīt! The affair is the following: the meeting of our alumni is set for 12 Aug near three birch trees. Time - 4 p.m. This time you should attend obligatory. Otherwise there will be a revolution, a strike etc. In addition all the guys and girls will feel themselves offended and will grow angry for ever. I have an awful pen. Bye-bye, see you later! Valija |
| 10. Picture. | A canvas of V.A.Serow - A sun lit girl |
| 11. Comments. | The word pastarītis in Latvian was used for the youngest child in a family. |
| D-21/1 | |
| 1. Name. | Madam Dr. H.Dzeivers, Marijas str. 37, Riga |
| 4. Dates. | S - 9-May-1940 |
| 6. Sender. | Emma R. |
| 8. Language. | Russian |
| 9. Text. | Translation: Dear Jelena Aleksejevna. I plan to leave the hospital on Saturday. As then the trains will be overcrowded, I suppose to go home in the morning of the first day of Trinity fest. Would you mind to allow me to spend a night at your home? |
| 10. Picture. | A flower. |
| 11. Comments. | In Latvian the first name of Dr. Dzeivers was spelled and pronounced Helena. Doctor Dzeiver born Jevstifejeva Helena, Russian, Practisizing physician, M. Kalna str. 14/16 was mentioned in the list of doctors in Riga for 1926. Evidently she has changed her living place in 14 years after the list was compiled. The message on the card contains also additional Post Scriptum that I could not decipher. |
| D-21/2 | |
| 1. Name. | Madam Dr. E.Dzeivers and family Dzirnavu str. 155, Riga |
| 4. Dates. | Unknown |
| 6. Sender. | Arturs Melderis (?), Māra, A.Zan., Ida, Elza, Anna. |
| 9. Text. | Merry Christmas |
| 10. Picture. | Christmas card with a winter view. |
| 11. Comments. | In this case the Russian form of the first name - Elena was used in the address. Māra was a rather little girl and could write her name on the card with great difficulties. |
| D-22 | |
| 1. Name. | Al. Jak. Dzeiver, Smolensk, Pokrovskaja Gorka, Aleksejew's house |
| 4. Dates. | S - 11-Nov-1911 |
| 6. Sender. | Brother from Suhumi. |
| 8. Language. | Russian |
| 9. Text. | The author greets the addressee with unknown fest and cheers him up. |
| 10. Picture. | A night view of Jermolov's park in Soči. |
| 11. Comments. | I bought the card that was sent and received outside Latvia, because I hoped to find something common with the previous cards to Dr. H.Dzeiver. Actually I could not. |
| D-23 | |
| 1. Name. | Madame A. Dsenit (Dzenītis), Dzerbenes pag. Ragskalnā |
| 4. Dates. | S - 16-Mar-1923 |
| 6. Sender. | Irma from Rauna |
| 9. Text. | Easter greetings. |
| 10. Picture. | Fr.Mālbergs' verse "Staburags' maid" with an illustration to it. |
| 11. Comments. | Irma addresses the author using nickname Ancīts. This is a nickname to Anna. |
| D-24/1 | |
| 1. Name. | Miss K.Dsirkal (Dzirkalis), in the house of Mr. Strahl, Smilten, Livland |
| 4. Dates. | R - 21-Jul-1912 |
| 6. Sender. | R.Mi* (a female person) |
| 9. Text. | In Latvian: Schodeen usgahju jeb labahki sazischu
usmekleju, tawas dahwatas rosites un tad ari padomaju par Tewi.. Wisu nedeļu
laiks nogahja ta tikai: eerihkojot wisu wezās pehdās un scho to pakrahmejotees... Dsimtenes rosites atgahdina dsimtenes dahrsiņu un lihds ar to dauds zitu ko.. Ja nu atleek brihtiņsch, atraksti, buhschu preezihga par to ļoti. Pokrowas skolā. Ar mihļu sweizeenu. R.Mi* 17/VII 1912. My translation: Today came over or better to say found out the roses you presented to me, and then I thought on you. All the week was spent in arranging things in the previous order. The roses of the homeland are a reminiscent of the garden in the homeland and of many other things. If you have a while, write to me, I shall be happy. In Pokrowa school. Sincerely. R.Mi* |
| 10. Picture. | The verse of Latvian poet J.Poruks - The bowl in the island of Deads. Also a portrait of the poet and the picture of that mystical island. |
| 11. Comments. | Till now I could not find where Pokrowa school was, in spite that the name seems somehow heard. |
| D-24/2 | |
| 1. Name. | Miss K.Dsirkal (Dzirkalis), St. Smilten |
| 4. Dates. | R - 23-Jan-1914 |
| 6. Sender. | W.Nimandt and T. from Riga |
| 9. Text. | W.Nimandt just wishes the best to the addressee. The second text that
is written by other person: Waj drigents jums ir tagad.
Ja lihds wasarai nebuhs, tad es braukschu zeemā un pahrs nedeļu laikā istaisisim
wismas saļumus. T.P. My translation: Have you the conductor now? If there will be nobody till the summer I will visit you and in some weeks we shall make at least roughly. There is also additional inscription on the card with the address in Russian. It is: Riga, Torensberg, Kolcin's school. |
| 10. Picture. | A religious picture "The escape to Egypt". However the name of the picture was corrected by an author of the card (T.) to - "The escape to Riga" |
| 11. Comments. | I suppose that K.Dsirkal was a schoolteacher in Smiltene and was busy
with organising a chorus there. But they had problems with a conductor.
T. had this skill and agreed to come in summer to Smiltene and to teach
all needed songs during 2 weeks of intensive singing. May be they were preparing
to a song festival? In the address there is written St. Smiltene. St. stands for Station. At that time Smiltene had a narrow gauge railway connection. |
| D-24/3 | |
| 1. Name. | Miss K.Dsirkal (Dzirkalis), Smiltene |
| 4. Dates. | R - 24-Jul-1916 |
| 6. Sender. | Marusa |
| 9. Text. | If it is not too much, let they all kiss you in your Nameday. Marusa |
| 10. Picture. | A photograph of a group of people. You may have a look on it. |
| 11. Comments. | Actually this is not a postcard - it never was in the post office - but just a photograph with an inscription, however it belongs to the archive of K.Dsirkal, of course. The first name Marusa was not known to me previously. 24 July is the Nameday of Kristīne. |
