As the address was written in German one can suppose that it was the beginning of 1920s because later it was not practiced. As Ferienheim means holiday home, one can conclude that family Baranovs were rather well situated to live in a holiday home at seaside. Edmund's nameday is July 29.

He asks also what are the prospects of Julijs. And at last he asks to buy a French tutorial (for Russian speakers) in Glicksmann's bookshop and to send it to Paris to his acquaintance O.Zāmurs if the book costs not more than 400 r. For this money he can buy in turn what is needed for Freibergs.

11. Comments.	It was not clear from the cancellation stamp printing if the card was written in 1916, 1926 or 1936. As the address was written in Latvian and contains the word Lettonie I excluded 1916. The price of the book is mentioned in roubles what was rather outdated in 1926 and hardly possible in 1936. The name of the addressee could be read also as Bange. I just think that Bauge is more preferable. Of course, if the addressee is not the same as for B-9

11. Comments.	My hypothesis is that T.Bergmann worked in the famous health resort of Baldone or may be rented rooms to the guests. The author together with her family members spent some time there but had not enough money to pay in the end of their visit. Therefore she should have send her daughter to Baldone with money. The card contains no hints allowing to decide that the writer was a woman however I think that the problems solved here usually were left to women.

He mentions that the river Northern Daugava (so he calls the river Severnaya Dvina) is more severe than our mother Daugava and the factory is situated at the cost of the river. In St. Petersbourg he had 5 hours time for the sight-seeing. He hopes to go back at home about Easter time.

11. Comments.	The text was written also on the front side. Unfortunately the writer used pencil here and now the inscription is practically faded out. I use the pronoun he because I do not think a young lady could undertake such a far travel - for me Velikij Ustjug is very remote place even now. As far as I remember, one of the greatest unit of Stalin's camps was called Ustjuglag (Camps of Ustjug).

11. Comments.	The stamp is torn off, the place name that is written by very bad hand of the author is not decipherable )the best guess Luxor. The letter was definitely sent from abroad - note that the data of receiving is earlier than date of sending. It was possible only in case if the letter was sent from a place where the Gregorian calender was used. Easy to suppose that the letter was sent from Egypt because of the picture on it. In the list of Horticultural Society of 1911 a name of gardener H.I.Behrzinsch is mentioned (now spelled Bērziņš) from Uljanka menor in Ligowo. Next year in 1912 H.I.Behrzinsch was registred in the analogous list as a merchant in Bilderlin (Bulduri). It seems that in Ligowo two persons named Bērziņš worked in the garden.

11. Comments.	Pēterupe is a name both of a river (upe is river) and a settlement near the mouth of this river. Saulkrasti is the nearest railway station to Pēterupe. Yes, the German name for Pēterupe was Peterskapelle. Kapelle means - band, a small orchestra. I imagine that both guys some years ago took part in the activities of the orchestra photographed on B-33/1, this is why the hints at kapella.

The author calls the addressee Mr. Japonskij what means something like Mr. Japanese. May be the addresee had some experience in Japan-Russia war 10 years ago. No ideas what he did in Zgierz.

11. Comments.	This is a rather interesting card from the migration point of view. Fricis in Liepaja waited for the ship to emigrate, most probably to the United States, and now, when he knows the departure time, he informs his home, previous home, of course. I did know that Liepaja was very great migration port but I could not imagine that Armenians also emigrated via Liepaja. I should say that this is very long way from Armenia to Liepaja so may be those were Armenians from St. Petersbourg or Moscow.

11. Comments.	The picture on the card is significant. It is known that the photograph of the both Russian authors was taken in October 1900 at Tolstoi's manor by his wife. A foreign company got the photograph, printed postcards with it and began to distribute them in the Empire. In February 1901 L.Tolstoi was excommunicated out of the Russian Orthodox Church. The Minister of the Interior prohibited to send postcards by post not enveloped and the Police had an order to seek them everywhere and to confiscate. However 9 years later the author possessed the card and mailed it. Please, note also that the card was sent several weeks after L.Tolstoi's death on November 7, 1910, that was regarded as a serious event by all antimonarchic forces in Russia.

11. Comments.	As this is a rare card with text in English I copied all the text I could decipher. The text does not allow to conclude that Ottilie was a relative of Lydia. May be she was kind of a missionary in Latvia? Ottilie did not stick the correct postage stamp (now torn off) and Lydia was charged additionally when received the letter. Lidija Būcēna, who was mentioned in /EVP/, was born Apr. 3, 1898 in Nowgorod, her father was Teodors, her mother Ļubova. She attended a college in New-York and graduated from Latvia University (Roman philology). She married Nikolajs Maulics. The Addresss book of Rīga 1928 informed that Lidija Bucens and Teodors Bucens lived at Slokas 27 appt.1.
