2 Names: Jansons, Puriņš

This is an example of the vocational training in prewar Latvia. A certificate of T.Jansons' Bookkeeping courses is presented. It seems that these courses were rather popular, which I judge from the fact that the certificates are relatively easy to buy in Riga old-book shops. Evidently these courses enrolled students in different programs, and one of them was the education of typists. |

The holder of the certificate Nr. 2589 issued on March 28, 1938 was Silvija Puriņš b. August 15, 1918. She graduated from the classes of typists and reached the typing speed 132 letters per minute. The speed was normal for beginners - a good professional typist should have speed about 300 letters per minute. |
