Morbidity| People quite frequently ask what the cause of the death
of their ancestor was. The available statistics of the death causes will
be published later, but at this moment I only propose the morbidity by infectious
diseases for 1922 to 1930. At that time for many of these diseases no effective
medicine existed, and they were quite lethal.
The data are from Statistical Yearbook of 1924 and 1930. The texts in the books are both in Latvian and French. However it seems that in the table of morbidity the diseases are named in the Latvian and the Latin languages. I copied here both of the terms and tried to translate them in English. It can be mentioned that the Latvian names of the diseases now are practically the same, except mumps, which now in everyday speech is called cūciņas. The lists of diseases for the years slightly differ. The cases, if the data on a disease was not found in the table, are noted NA |
