zieds1mazs.gif (257 bytes) Runcis Pase

4 Names: Ķebers, Kundziņš, Runcis, Runska

This is a birth certificate issued on December 3, 1920 by Pastor K.Kundziņš in Smiltene. The certificate evidently was needed for making new passports of the Latvia Republic.

The certificate informs that:

Jānis son of Mārcis Runska was born November 16, 1869 in Plāņu pagasts.
His wife Kristīne b. Ķebers was born July 26, 1875 in Trikāta
Their children were:
Helmars b. March 2, 1903
Anna b. March 13, 1905
Jānis b. October 3, 1909

The backside of the certificate informs that the passports were made for the children. Helmars, who in his passport became Elmars, obtained his passport quite soon - on December 8. The passports for youngest children were issued on December 29. I do not understand why so young children got passports, Jānis was only 11 years old in 1920.

The stamp print informs that the passports were made by the Executive Committee of Bilskas pagasts. The executive committees actually were introduced by the Soviet-type government in 1919. The local municipalities continued to exist upon this name also when independent Latvia State began to function.

Rather important is the fact that the names of the holders of the new passport were changed. In the passports their name was Runcis, not Runska as in the certificate.
