Meeting of
writers with readers4 Names: Duklavs, Lejnieks, Melbārdis, Upīts
| To my understanding, this is a photograph taken when a group
of writers visited their readers. I guess it could have happened in the
library or in the premises of Lithuanian society because a poster was fastened
on the room wall which informed about Lithuanian children books.
I think that some of the adults sitting in front of the group are writers, but I recognize only two of them, because they are classics of Latvian literature. The first from the right is Vilis Plūdons, the real name Vilis Lejnieks. According to /EVP/, he was born on March 9, 1874 in Bauska apr. Pilsmuižas pag. Lejnieki farm. Father Jānis, mother Anna b. Duklavs. The wife - Elfrida b. Melbārdis. Click on him to get enlarged picture. The second writer I know is Andrejs Upīts, the third from the right. He was born Dec. 5, 1877 in Skrīveri [Römershof]. His father's name was Mārtiņš. Quite possible that the people standing behind the writers are also known persons. For example, the man behind V.Plūdons. Click on him to get enlarged image. |
