| I have photographs of two groups of young people confirmed at Riga St.
Gertrud's new church in 1931. In the same bookstore, where I have bought
the pictures, I also found 2 confirmation certificates issued by the Pastor
of this church to Ansis Klaubergs and Vilma Auguste Irbe.
As the certificates were dated, and the pictures had the dates written on
them, and both dates coincided, it became clear that the above mentioned
persons should be on these pictures.
In the same store another bunch of photographs was sold. The inscriptions on the pictures witness that Vilma and Ansis later married and had many friends who presented them photos. These photos, as well as other photographs of Klaubergs family events, I am going to describe in another part of ROOTS=SAKNES. Confirmants
of St. Gertrud's new church 4 Oct.1931 The day when Vilma Auguste
Irbe was confirmed. You may have a look on a confirmation certificate. These certificates were handed to every confirmed person and had some legal sense especially in the Russia Empire when it could be handed in a church to prove that one is confirmed and may be married in the Church. But such certificates were not obligatory, and it was rather a tradition of a church that designed and printed them. Therefore there was a great variety of them. Certificate of the confirmation for Vilma Auguste Irbe The photograph of Vilma and Ansis Klaubergs could be found in the Page for the families with known names. and all information from this family archive will be gathered in a separate Page. |
